Praised for her warm tone and expressive playing, Canadian flutist Haley Marie has quickly established a reputation for her sophisticated musicality as well as her unique ability to capture audiences. Among her accomplishments are degrees from the prestigious School of Music at Yale University, McGill University, a Governor General’s award and three memorable performances at Carnegie Hall.

Haley is the founder Aurelia Productions, a company devoted to creating new ways for audiences to experience classical music.  The company’s first production, The Men Behind the Music: Bach, Handel & Mozart, garnered international attention at the 2010 National Flute Association Convention in Anaheim, California.  The premiere performance took place in front of a full house at the Berney Theatre in Winnipeg in June of 2011. The company’s second production, Music for Mom, was equally successful and, in addition, raised nearly $5,000 for cancer research in Manitoba. Aurelia has now produced four separate productions, which audiences are calling “brilliant”, “unique”, “breathtaking” and “thrilling”.

Since creating her first concert production, Haley’s work in the company has attracted much attention in the music world internationally. Her captivating presentation of live classical music has been praised throughout Canada and the United States. Haley has maintained a fierce interest in preserving the human side of classical music and in the interactive, social concert atmospheres of the past. Aurelia Productions has continued to produce unprecedented concert productions in its first years–the company has presented shows for packed and enthusiastic audiences regularly since its inception.

In addition to the company’s live concert productions, Aurelia Productions produces an online video series entitled Two-Minute Talks, which discusses the often surprising history of classical music. In recognition of this work to expose the captivating sides of classical music, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra has invited Haley to give all of the season’s pre-concert talks for the Orchestra for several years now.

Haley Marie has toured throughout North America and Europe, while having music distributed in the Americas, Europe, Japan, UK, Mexico and Australia.

In addition to her principle teachers, Haley has actively sought out chances to study with a number of the world’s foremost flutists in private lessons and masterclasses, including Dr. Dieter Flury, Jean-Claude Gérard, Mathieu Dufour, Sandra Miller, Maxence Larrieu, Jeanne Baxtresser, Amy Porter, Tara-Helen O’Connor, Susan Hoeppner, Dr. Kathleen Rudolph, Carolyn Christie and Leone Buyse.

Haley has been the recipient of several awards including the Gold Medal for Flute Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto, the Governor General’s Award at the Winnipeg Music Competition Festival and scholarships to attend both Yale and McGill Universities.

Teaching experience includes teaching positions at Platt College (San Diego), the Orange County High School of the Arts (California), the University of Winnipeg and as undergraduate flute instructor at Yale University.
